Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the region and/or to change their base hospital. The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of adult neurological services to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and its outreach sites (including Doncaster, Bassetlaw, Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield). The appointee will be expected to contribute to the routine outpatient general neurology, a ward liaison service at least one of these sites in addition to general and sub-specialty interest clinics in Sheffield. The person appointed will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Department. In line with the directorate's policy to support research there are opportunities for appointees with the appropriate research interest and expertise to apply to the Academic Research Directorate for up to 1 research SPA depending on their research aspirations and if supported by the appropriate research theme lead.
