As a transplant center, it specialises in all forms of mechanical circulatory support. At Harefield the post holder would be expected to manage the post op critical care of these patients, and be involved in the cardiogenic shock and eCPR program, and gain experience of VA ECMO, impella, ventricular assist devices as well as post operative management of heart and lung transplant recipients. This is a highly specialised post and would be ideally suited to an NTN holder in year 4 or 5 of their training (as out of programme experience) who wishes to pursue a career in cardiothoracic intensive care. The appointee should have a minimum of four months experience in cardiothoracic critical care, and consideration be given to other suitable candidates including those already in possession of their CCST or appropriately qualified overseas trainees. This post is for 6, or preferably, 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance and the training needs of the individual Clinical Fellow.
