We have a rare opportunity to join a dynamic, friendly team of speech and language therapists in Somerset. The post is full time covering Monday to Friday, however a flexible working pattern and/or part time hours can be considered. Although we are looking for the post holder to be based at West Mendip Hospital, there is some flexibility with the base, as we are a county wide service. Our team has a well established supervision and support network in place. We have access to a wide variety of CPD opportunities and we encouragement development of leadership skills alongside clinical skills from the start of your career journey. We value the importance of staff well-being and have appointed a well-being lead in the service to ensure all staff have access to well-being support alongside their one to one sessions and clinical supervision. We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about delivering high quality evidence- based care to this group of vulnerable patients. Ideally you'll have some experience of working with patients with deteriorating neurological conditions. We are willing to support a Band 5 therapist with relevant experience who is keen to progress to a Band 6 role. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated professional to join our team, where you'll have the opportunity to independently manage a diverse caseload of patients with progressive neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Dementia. In this role, you'll work across various settings, including community clinics, hospitals, care homes, and visiting patients in their own homes. Our service is equipped with a fantastic range of communication aids for you to trial with patients, and we collaborate closely with the AAC West Service. You'll also have the support of a skilled team of Associate Practitioner Speech and Language Therapists who are eager to assist you in managing your caseload. You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with other professionals, while also training and supporting care staff and family members to ensure the best possible care for our patients. We offer exciting opportunities to develop specialist skills in areas such as LSVT provision, voice banking, and videofluoroscopy. You'll also be encouraged to enhance your leadership abilities through courses and by taking on some line management responsibilities.
