Haematology sits within the Cancer & Diagnostics division of the Trust. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to expand and develop the care of those with Haematological conditions in the Trust's catchment area, both malignant and non-malignant diseases processes. The post holder is encouraged to develop his/her own sub-specialty interest. This can be discussed at the interview. See the Job Description for current lead roles . The post will be based at the East Surrey hospital; however the post holder will be expected to work across the two hospital sites (East Surrey and Crawley). The successful applicant will be mainly focused on meeting the needs of the acute hospital setting undertaking inpatient and outpatient work. There are 5 Haematology CNSs and 1 Physician Associate who provide follow up clinics, telephone advice lines and support the junior doctors and nursing staff. The lead Haematology CNS is also the Clinical Lead. The Trust has two ACPs for SACT (Haem and Oncology) and a well-established Chemotherapy Team to support both Chemo inpatients and outpatients. The combined team comprises six consultant haematologists (one locum), one SpR, one IMT trainee and a Trust Grade Doctor. The laboratories at both hospitals are managed within the Berkshire & Surrey Pathology Services NHS partnership network that serves an overall population of around 2 million; ASPH is the network hub for specialist coagulation services.
