Ensure a safe and tidy working environment. 2. Undertake a range of duties, as instructed by the nursing staff and ensure delegated duties are completed effectively. 3. Handle correctly incoming/outgoing mail. 4. Obtain, send and store information on children, their families and their care. 5. Operate, maintain and improve the ward/departmental filing system. Ensure ward based medical records are kept up-to-date i.e. reports filed and notes kept in order. 6. Make and deal with telephone queries, using own initiative and liaising with the nursing team as appropriate. 7. Operation of and input to Visual Display Unit and any computerised system on the ward/department 8. Ensure that clerical procedures for appointments, admission, transfer and discharge of children are completed in line with ward/department procedures. 9. Photocopy and operate facsimile/telex machines as required 10. Liaise with Health Records staff and Medical Secretaries in providing information and case note management. 11. Assist in the collection of statistics.12. Requisition of supplies. 13.
