Here at Salford Care Organisation we lead on the Major Trauma services with a new state of art, Major Trauma centre, complete with Helipad, to provide advance Major Trauma services to Greater Manchester population. We receive a wide variety of patients with surgical, neurosurgical, plastics and orthopaedic problems. The team is headed by a Band 8 clinical lead managing a large team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists from band 3 to band 7 level. We pride ourselves on our strong working relationships with our OT colleagues and the wider MDT. You would be responsible for the day to day running of the physiotherapy team, supported by the Band 8a, implementing innovative ways of working and developing the service. To take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of neurological / neurosurgical patients, who may have complex and /or chronic presentation. To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. To lead assessment, liaison, and decision-making processes on behalf of the MDT for patients referred to the service. To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience. Be an expert in the field of the therapeutic aspects of major trauma, developing cross boundary working practices and integrating research evidence into practice. Support the therapy clinical lead and wider MDT to support the development of a rehabilitation ethos, knowledge & practices for all staff working with major trauma patients Act as a clinical advisor for Major Trauma patients within the trust footprint and to support the clinical lead on relevant local and national committees, networks and working parties. Support the clinical lead with to develop and lead on AHP research & audit that contributes to the knowledge base and clinical practice of therapy within major trauma and orthopaedics, linking with Academic Institutions. To be able to work across 7 days, contributing to weekend working and to the respiratory on-call rota.
