The 2-year Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery aims to produce competent, caring, research and evidence-based midwives, capable of delivering effective woman-centred care for mothers and their families within these contexts. Midwives of the 21st century practice within dynamic, rapidly changing and diverse contexts and require personal, academic and professional skills to practice in an optimum way. During the 2-year course, time will be split between the London South Bank University Southwark and BHRUT NHS Trust, Queens Hospital, Romford. To attain a registered midwifery qualification To communicate effectively with women and their families throughout the preconception, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages under the supervision of the Registered Midwife (Practice Supervisor/Assessor). To diagnose pregnancy, assess and monitor women holistically throughout the preconception, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages through the use of a range of assessment methods and reach valid, reliable and comprehensive conclusions under the supervision of the Registered Midwife.
