The post holder will work with a caseload of complex patients at differing stages of the oncology trajectory. The team provides a supportive, integrated, seamless, holistic approach. They support and communicate with patients' families and carers, liaising with other healthcare professionals within the MDT and beyond. At NUH we are a vital component of delivering high quality care to patients within Nottingham (an ESGO certified cancer centre), as well as supporting those referred to us from our colleague units within the East Midlands. Within this role you will support the team caring for patients within a variety of settings, e.g. ITU / base wards / outpatient clinics / pre-op. You will support the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based clinical practice as per guidelines, protocols, patient care policies and procedures utilising risk assessments and best practice guidelines. You need to possess advanced IT skills to manage the team mailbox, results and systems such as DHR, Careflow, MEDWAY etc. Please familiarise yourself with the full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert. Work within a team to develop and deliver the specialist service within the Trust, using evidence-based practice Be a visible point of contact for patients, visitors, relatives and staff To assist the team in demonstrating a specialist level of knowledge and clinical practice within the clinical specialty Act as a role model and resource of clinical expertise to all staff, patients and their carers. Assist with the identification and facilitation of clinical audits to promote clinical effectiveness as part of the Divisions Clinical Governance Framework Assist in management of queries via e-mail and telephone. Liaise closely with other health and social care professionals to ensure a coordinated approach and high quality care is provided for patients Communicate difficult information to patients and families Provide a credible source of specialist clinical knowledge and advice, taking an active role inself-development, reviewing own performance Participate in the education of patients in a pre-operative setting.
