Duties will be mainly at Watford General Hospital (WGH) with nominal cover for St Albans City Hospital (SACH). The appointed specialist will provide cover for the 20 bedded unit and additionally will support the Intensive Care Outreach service. There will be an opportunity to develop further special interests, contribute to departmental teaching, development of policies and procedures and any further Quality Improvement projects. You will be expected to work shifts covering 7:45 am to 9:00 pm; Monday to Friday and weekend working will also be required on a rota basis. The on-call frequency is currently 1:9, although this may change in the future. The total PAs, including SPAs and administrative time, will be approximately 10. Candidates will be able to lead the Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Outreach service and provide safe care for critically unwell patients in settings across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Candidates will demonstrate extensive experience in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM), equivalent to a UK CCT in ICM. Candidates must have leadership skills appropriate to participating and leading a multidisciplinary team. They must demonstrate good written, verbal and interpersonal communications and a commitment to professional development and Clinical Governance. About us Candidates will be expected to cover Anaesthetic theatre sessions for surgical specialties typical of most district general hospitals and work flexibly dependent on the service needs of the department of Anaesthesia.
