The work undertaken in Ophthalmology departments at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals accounts for 13% of UHB's annual activity. As demand for services increases, we are now opening applications for the Band 7 Ophthalmic Technical Services Manager to join us at the QE. This vital role will lead our dedicated technician team working alongside Ophthalmologists, Nurses, Orthoptists, Optometrists, administrative staff and health care assistants. As the Technical Service Manager your role will be varied, often challenging and always rewarding. With a mixture of clinical activity and leadership you will be an enthusiastic, creative leader who encourages colleague development whilst ensuring clinical governance is maintained and patients are treated and cared for. As Technical Services Manager you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the diagnostic service at the QE, ensuring that the technicians undertake the diagnostic tests required by clinicians in a timely and accurate manner. You will be required to contribute to the development of departmental policies, protocols and guidelines and ensure that they are adhered to. This opportunity will also see you undertake a range of diagnostic investigations to include HVF, GVF, OCT, retinal imaging, immersion biometry and UBM and you will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training to staff to ensure they meet departmental competency standards.
