We are looking for bank staff to join our friendly and supportive team. You will have flexible availability to cover both planned and short term absences. Weekday sessions Monday-Friday 7.45am-3.30pm (flexibility available with session times) The post holder will contribute to high quality, patient-centred services by taking and preparing blood samples for collection laboratory testing. Previous experience of venepuncture is essential. Undertake venepuncture to provide a timely, safe service and a high quality patient experience: Collection of sample(s) in accordance with training and procedures. Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers, with accurate, legible, labelling and in accordance with standard operating procedures. Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control About us Vernova Healthcare Community Interest Company (CIC) Vernova Healthcare CIC is a Social Enterprise healthcare service provider owned by GPs in East Cheshire. ROLE OVERVIEW The post holder will contribute to high quality, patient-centred services by taking and preparing blood samples for collection laboratory testing CLINICAL CARE To undertake venepuncture at the request of GPs and Consultants in order to provide a timely, safe service and a high quality patient experience Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample. Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures. Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers. Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity. Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible. Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with organisational procedure. Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion. Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff. Notifying the responsible GP practice of any significant patient issues. Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team. To maintain high standards of infection prevention and control in all work undertaken in order to ensure a safe service for patients. To actively participate in the audit of standards (e.g. hand hygiene, sharps safety) in order to support high standards of safety and quality CLINIC ORGANISATION To contribute to maintain the system of stock control for phlebotomy consumables and to requisition goods in order to ensure that all clinics have appropriate quantities of the correct consumables. To develop a checklist for clinic rooms and to undertake regular audits of facilities and equipment in order to ensure that the accommodation is appropriate for the services provided. "}
