The post holder will be involved in continuing to develop the psychological support to this service. This will involve working closely with the MDT, input to meetings and clinics, offering training and supervision, alongside work with patients during their stay in ITU, as well as those identified as needing support following discharge. The psychologist will be supported by the band 8a psychologist, already in post. We have some other new vacancies, so if an applicant is looking for full time work there may well be opportunities to combine roles. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical psychologists to join our well-established Department of Medical Psychology. The department is friendly, supportive, and flexible. The team includes clinical psychologists, trainees, assistants, and excellent admin/clerical support. We place great emphasis on supervision and personal development, which is possible through working within a psychology department. We meet regularly for case presentations, clinical governance, and business meetings. We also have a monthly peer group meeting and regular time-out to enable reflection and service development. We have a team base at Leicester General Hospital, although also work at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Glenfield Hospital. The role will involve continuing to develop the psychology provision to the intensive care services within the hospitals in the acute hospital trust. The role already involves working with the multidisciplinary team to review patient's following their inpatient stays to see whether psychological support is needed. the psychologists in post also work closely with the inpatient teams developing support for patients on ITU, either through direct intervention or working with staff. There will be the opportunities to develop areas of staff training, and possible areas of staff support and supervision/reflective groups. The role also involves the support of a 7/8a psychologist and reviewing current provision to continue to look at the team needs. The successful candidate will also work with the medical psychology team and benefit from joint working and support from a diverse team of psychologists.
