The vacancy is a permanent 37.5 hour post, working Monday to Friday 08.30-17.00, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch. We are a busy routine Histology and Diagnostic Cytology department processing 39,000 specimens per year. The role is to support the team, facilitating the throughput of Histology and Diagnostic Cytology specimens from the pre-analytical areaof the laboratory through to the next stage of the pathway. The post holder will assist the Reception Team Leader with the day-to-day operation and supervision of the pre-analytical area of the Cellular Pathology Department, ensuring efficient provision of the service by utilisingstaff and other resource appropriately. The role will also include the receiving, unpacking, checking and registering of samples, liaising with Health Board departments as required to ensure effective and timelythroughput of the samples through to the next laboratory section. The post holder will assist the Reception Team Leader with the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Pre-Analytical area of the Cellular Pathology Department, ensuring efficient provision of the service by utilising staff and other resource appropriately. The post holder will receive, unpack, check and register samples and undertake clerical duties as necessary.
