If you are currently undertaking this apprenticeship or have previously completed this apprenticeship or equivalent programme of study please do not apply - for any further eligibility queries please email dbth.apprentices@nhs.net Over the course of three years you will combine the theory of radiography, supported through the university and the practical elements of working as a radiographer in order to attain a BSc in diagnostic radiography qualification. You will work a combination of long, short days, weekends and nights to gain a full experience of diagnostic radiography, the patients and services we provide, from plain film, theatre and mobile, screening with exposure in speciality areas over the three year period. The main responsibilities of this post is the willingness and ability to complete the diagnostic radiographer degree within the three year time scale. To learn and undertake a wide range of imaging examinations and to provide a quality service for all referrers and to the patients they refer. Through appropriate supervision act as an operator under the Trusts IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and undertake a range of imaging examinations and procedures as per the departments technique protocols. You will be required to participate in rostered duties as are deemed necessary, providing a 24-hour service. You will be exposed to a number of different working areas and you will need to deal effectively with patients in a variety of environments i.e. Intensive Care Unit, Resuscitation Room, Coronary Care and to maintain a professional demeanour in potentially distressing circumstances.
