An exiting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Nurse or Midwife to work in the Pregnancy Advisory Service (PAS) at the Central Health Clinic. PAS is a Nurse delivered, Consultant covered, service based at Unity Sexual Health (Central Health Clinic). The role involves patient consultations, ultrasound scanning, informal counselling, sexual health screening, giving contraception advice and consenting for abortions. May include some evenings. **Observation shift recommended prior to application/interview - please contact to arrange.** Provide a full range of nursing skills within the Pregnancy Advisory Service. This may include evenings. Provide a confidential and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services including use of Fraser Guidelines. Administer and / or issue prescribed medication as appropriate following NMC professional guidelines, working from PGDs or Non-Medical Prescribing as appropriate. Use professional judgement to seek advice or refer to medical colleagues. Be aware of and adhere to NMC, Trust and Directorate policies and procedures. Adhere to departmental protocols, procedures and guidelines for clinical care in order to ensure that a high standard of care is delivered to all service users. Perform testing, obtain swabs and specimens as appropriate and provide advice and information to patients regarding cervical cytology. Provide health promotion relevant to patient needs. Promote sexual health and in particular advise about the transmission of sexually transmitted infections and ways of reducing those risks. Undertake pregnancy tests and refer to and liaise with other professionals as appropriate, providing pre pregnancy advice and information as required. Perform ultrasound scanning to confirm pregnancy and gestation (following in-house training). Participate in and run nurse led clinics, and be able to use professional judgement to seek advice or refer to medical colleagues or other agencies. "}
