On theatre days, carry out preoperative patient review with your team and assist with surgery, documentation and ensure the postoperative plan is followed. Review your postoperative patients that are staying overnight. When on-call, take A&E and external referrals and those from other departments, review them and formulate a management plan with senior input. Maintain an updated patient database. Comply at all times with the Trusts dress code. Observe Trust policy on prevention of infection including hand washing and remaining bare below the elbows in all patient areas. Take responsibility for your continuing professional development and attend Trust essential training, any clinical updates and Trust Academic Half Days as appropriate. Undergo an annual appraisal as part of maintaining medical registration as required for Revalidation. This job is for a Trust Doctor (equivalent to ST1/2) to provide care for patients for designated Consultant/team at ward level providing support to F1s and receiving support/training from both Senior trainees and Consultant staff. Whilst this post will not be recognised for training, there is a strong educational component with dedicated training in clinical, professional and personal skills. The post holder will: Provide care of acute patients under the guidance of the senior staff and will include assisting the Consultants at outpatient clinics and theatre sessions. Be expected to provide teaching to nursing staff and under graduate students. Be expected to participate in audits and research as arranged by the firms. Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with their colleagues both senior and junior.
