At Somerset NHS Foundation Trust we are actively seeking individuals who want to contribute to our vision of providing patient centred and compassionate nursing care. We are interested in hearing from people who can make a difference with their positive outlook, dedication, expertise and compassion. You will have had varied and substantive experience of working as a Band 5 RMN, and will be confident, robust, approachable, and sensitive to the issues faced by people who are in the most acute and challenging phase of their journey towards recovery. As a team player you will work creatively, and have the leadership desire to sometimes look further than your own shift and even your own ward, with the ability to see a wider perspective when making decisions that impact across a patients pathway or the service. You will be joining a dynamic and innovative multidisciplinary management team that works within a new service structure committed to operating, sharing and supporting each other. Whilst you will be rooted in one of our ward teams you will also provide service wide leadership and support across the building out of hours to your neighbouring ward colleagues. We are heavily committed to quality improvement and innovation and we underpin our service values with those of recovery, involvement, reducing restrictive interventions and teamwork. We have achieved Royal College of Psychiatrists AIMS accreditation on one of our admission wards and we are now working towards this on our neighbouring ward. About us To provide clinical leadership, advice and support for junior members of the team. To assist the unit manager lead development and changes on the ward. To support the deputy ward manager/ward manager in the management and leadership role, including contribution to the locality management team/MDT. To support the ward manager to achieve team objectives, targets and quality standards. To contribute to the promotion of staff well-being and morale in the team through developing and maintaining supportive relationships, acting as a role model. To deal with complaints in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. To maintain adequate resources for the delivery of care. To assist in the implementation and monitoring of all Trust policies and procedures and local protocols on the ward and ensuring that clinical practice standards are adhered to and implemented. To provide management supervision and appraisal of the work of band 5 and below, this may include admin staff, using the knowledge and skills framework and be supportive and possibly assist in the delivery of group or individual clinical supervision. To complete risk assessments, clinical and non-clinical, ensure they are updated and that all staff know their responsibilities in relation to this. To deputise for the ward manager in their absence and other nursing staff when necessary. "}
