This is a great opportunity to work as part of a busy and supportive team and to be innovative and dynamic using your organisational, assessment and interpersonal skills. The role is demanding and varied meaning no two days are the same and is ideal for someone who likes a challenge. Full training will be given to the successful candidate on appointment. You will need experience of working in a care setting, or in a patient or public facing role and have excellent interpersonal and time management skills. You will be responsible for the organisation and replenishment of our on-site equipment stores, planning and arranging routes for the delivery of equipment that is required to assist people at home on discharge from hospital, installing equipment into patients homes and assessing for items such as grab rails and banister rails, carrying out daily checks on the department vehicles, liaising with Community Equipment Services and external companies and demonstrating new equipment to OT staff and students. The OT Department is a large and friendly team and part of the Therapy Services Directorate within STSFT NHS Foundation Trust. This Directorate has a high regard for their support staff and learning and development is encouraged. This role requires mostly lone working while out in the community, but supervision is provided by a department manager. As well as excellent interpersonal skills you will also be required to document some aspects of your work electronically and need to be able to use a computer for administrative aspects of the role. The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a requirement to work on some bank holidays if required. Due to the need to visit patients homes as part of your role, you must be able to drive the department vehicles. About us To deliver and install assistive and adaptive equipment into patients homes in preparation for discharge from hospital that will help them to maximise their functional independence with Activities of Daily Living. The role also involves assessing patients and their homes for fixed aids such as grab rails and bannister rails. This is a unique role and involves mostly lone working in the community but support and supervision is provided by a department manager. To be responsible for the replenishment ordering of equipment into the Occupational Therapy (OT) equipment stores and maintaining stock levels to the required standards.
