Applications are invited for the post Consultant in Stroke Medicine at East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT). We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed colleague who has the passion to develop and provide high quality Stroke Services for the local population. As part of the East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT) clinical strategy, and following consultation, the Stroke service is consolidated to a single site, based at the Eastbourne District General Hospital, (EDGH) The Stroke Medical team look after all Stroke patients admitted to the Acute Stroke Centre at the EDGH on a Stroke or Stroke Thrombolysis Pathway. TIA clinics are currently held at Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital, Hastings. AI / Telemedicine is available to support thrombolysis on call. The Stroke pathway is supported by two Community Stroke Rehabilitation Teams which also deliver Early Supported Discharge (ESD), with pathways to Stroke rehabilitation beds at Bexhill Irvine Unit. The successful applicant will be an accredited physician with background in the field of Stroke. Applicants must have full GMC registration and be within 6 months of gaining CCT at time of interview or on the Specialist Register. Emergency Care: -Attending thrombolysis and thrombectomy calls with the on-call stroke team. -Involvement in the thrombectomy referral process and coordinating patient transfer. -Inpatient ward reviews including ITU patients. Acute Stroke Centre (ASC): -Management of hyper acute stroke admissions -Management of stroke and medical complications -Excelling in communication skills with MDT members, patients, and their families -Management of acute stroke patients and ASC step-downs -Management of rehabilitation stroke patients -Leading care planning and best-interest meetings Outpatient: -TIA clinics and associated admin -Stroke Clinics and associated admin -Stroke IP Follow up reviews Out of hours: -1:4 weekends - New admissions and TIA clinics -1:6 Thrombolysis on call The job plan will be tailored around the successful applicant whilst meeting the needs of the service. There will be an opportunity to develop services and time for this will be allocated appropriately. About us Please refer to the job description attached.
