Sandbanks Ward is a 23 bedded acute oncology inpatient ward and part of the Dorset Cancer Centre. Sandbanks Ward cares for patients receiving cancer treatments and the side effects of these treatments; including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy. The ward also provides excellent palliative care and symptom control for cancer patients. Sandbanks Ward prides itself on high standards of physical and psychological care that we give to our patients during their cancer journey. The ward also supports the Oncology Assessment Unit out of hours which provides triage, assessment and treatment for patients presenting with acute oncology emergencies and provides additional opportunities for the individual to develop skills and knowledge within the team. The Senior Staff Nurse post will support the ward Sister to lead the existing team of proactive and dedicated nurses that prides itself on high quality patient focused care. The applicant will demonstrate an energy and true passion for the specialty and service development as well as strong leadership & management skills. The successful candidate will provide expert knowledge, high quality care and psychological support to patients and their families. Requirements RGN with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience At least two years previous nursing experience in cancer care.
