Do not think this speciality is only cataracts, as there is a varied selection of sub-specialities to provide plenty of learning and professional development. Could you see yourself as our Glaucoma or Vitreo-Retinal specialist nurse? Could you have the desire and skills to complete the nurse practitioner role within Eye Casualty service? Perhaps a future is awaiting you within the medical retina service supporting Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Macular Oedema, as a nurse injector. Positions for Band 5 Staff Nurses are available at the Prince Charles Eye Unit which is a stand-alone surgical unit within Windsor. This friendly unit is very supportive and proactive towards staff training and development. Although the positions available are within Outpatients, the nursing team does rotate around the department which provides variety to the working week and supports extension of professional skills. Informal visits to view the unit and meet some staff are always welcome. About us You will be responsible for undertaking and recording comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced-based nursing care to a diverse group of patients. Deliver care without direct supervision and be accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care. Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce. Be accountable for care or any omissions of care that you delegate to others. Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
