Treatment is offered in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The ward aims to get to know patients as individuals whilst meeting their acute mental health needs. The role involves working to deliver occupational therapy provision to those admitted to the ward, focusing on occupational performance, implementation and facilitation of individual and group interventions alongside the activity coordinator, and working with other professionals to support patient's effective recovery and discharge The role sits within the wider acute therapy service where we support and embrace continuing practice development opportunities. All our services use the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) for assessment and treatment with a strong focus on better supporting patients in their recovery journey, with ample support for specific training and peer supervisions around it's use. The post holder will be responsible for working on the acute mental health ward as a valued member of the wards multi-disciplinary team, undertaking specialist assessments of patients, developing appropriate treatment plans and interventions alongside the nursing team. To manage a defined caseload of clients with occupational needs as a result of an acute mental health episode, using evidence based, client centred, recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice.
