The post holder will also act as duty manager, in the absence of the Clinical / Registered Manager. Periods of absence such as annual leave, weekends, sick leave that will be shared amongst the Clinical Management Team TheDeputy Manager will provide clinical leadership and management alongside the Clinical Manager for the unit. Through supervision of Band 5 nurses, to ensure that a detailed nursing assessment is carried out for new residents, and that they have a comprehensive, clear, and up-to-date plan of care designed to meet the individuals identified care needs, and that these plans are regularly reviewed Quality assurance through the auditing of care plans and drug charts, identifying best practice and identifying areas of improvement back to the senior clinical management team To ensure the appropriate involvement of residents, their relatives, and friends in their care and to ensure that clear, effective communication occurs with the person identified as the main carer, or appropriate contact, for the resident To maintain and improve communication systems within Birch Avenue, and with community professionals who come into the Home To ensure that qualified staff are supported in developing best practice within the home, through working alongside them, and through supervision and formal and informal teaching To provide clinical advice and expertise to colleagues in Birch Avenue, taking a lead role in particular areas, working with the Manager and Senior Management Team About us Clinical To assess people on the waiting list to ensure the environment can meet their needs, and to ensure a smooth transition of care as they take up their tenancy by drawing up an initial care plan, communicating this to staff and supporting residents, their relatives, and staff through the transition Through supervision of Band 5 nurses, to ensure that a detailed nursing assessment is carried out for new residents, and that they have a comprehensive, clear, and up-to-date plan of care designed to meet the individuals identified care needs, and that these plans are regularly reviewed Quality assurance trough the auditing of care plans and drug charts, identifying best practice and identifying areas of improvement back to the senior clinical management team To ensure the appropriate involvement of residents, their relatives, and friends in their care and to ensure that clear, effective communication occurs with the person identified as the main carer, or appropriate contact, for the resident To maintain and improve communication systems within Birch Avenue, and with community professionals who come into the Home To be responsible for monitoring that structured handovers are taking place in the format agreed by the management team To ensure that qualified staff are supported in developing best practice within the home, through working alongside them, and through supervision and formal and informal teaching To accompany the GP on doctors rounds and reviews of residents when necessary and communicate this back to staff through handovers and care records To provide clinical advice and expertise to colleagues in Birch Avenue, taking a lead role in particular areas, working with the Manager and Senior Management Team Principal duties To work flexibly to meet service requirements within contracted hours which will involve acting as duty manager, and also working shifts on clinical areas when the need arises.
