This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with experience of working at a registrar level in paediatric surgery to join the team. This post has been developed in order to support the continued delivery of high quality care to children across the Leicester Children's Hospital. The successful candidates will join our team of paediatric surgeons and paediatricians and to provide a wide range of clinical services across the spectrum of paediatric surgery and urology. Many of our wards have undergone a full or partial refurbishment in the last 24 months & we have benefitted from the construction of a brand new Paediatric Theatre Reception and Paediatric Recovery area, with plans for an integrated single site Children's Hospital accommodating all Children's services on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site, providing a unique time to come and join our team. Additionally, the Trust has recently opened a new £42 million Emergency Floor which includes a new Paediatric Emergency Department and a Childrens short stay unit (CSSU). This Job advert will close when we receive sufficient number of applications. The post holders will participate in managing the care of paediatricsurgical patients at registrar level. He/she will be expected toperform clinical and non-invasive assessment of paediatricpatients within an acute environment, and will be fully involved inthe surgical management of patients including working in theatre,with their supervising Consultant and where appropriateindependently.. With responsibility for the day to day running of thepaediatric surgical wards, planning and implementing clinicalmanagement plans under the supervision of the consultant staffand presenting cases at departmental MDT meetings About us he Paediatrics surgery specialty serves the population ofLeicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, as one of the busiest Acuteand General Paediatric centres in the UK. Our ChildrensAssessment Unit (CAU) currently sees around 14,000 children ayear and this is in addition to the children who attend ourPaediatric Emergency Department (PED). The speciality alsoprovides tertiary level care to children and young people fromacross the region including areas of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire,Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
