About us JOB DETAILS Job Title: ST3+ (or equivalent) Clinical Fellow with interest in Placenta Accreta Spectrum Specialty/Department: Obstetrics & Gynaecology Location: Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds, West Yorkshire Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension to 2 years BACKGROUND TO THE POST An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic doctor to join the current Obstetrics and Gynaecology team as a clinical fellow at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The service is delivered through four sites: St James University Hospital (SJUH), Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), Wharfdale General Hospital and Seacroft Hospital. This is a non-training post, however, it allows the post holder, including applicants who already hold CCT, to gain experience that will help to secure future posts. Almost all the sub-specialities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology are provided for at our centre. Since 2020 LTHT has been one of three regional referral centres in the North of England for the management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) complex obstetric surgery. The PAS team receive referrals from a large geographical area covering most of Yorkshire & Humber. The diagnostic service is led by fetal medicine consultant Dr Colette Sparey and the surgical service is run by Mr Dileep Wijeratne and Miss Lydia Coade. We also work very closely with colleagues from Anaesthesia, Interventional Radiology, Gynae Oncology, Neonates and Pathology. A fellow working with our team would have the following opportunities: 1) Development of generic skills in complex obstetric surgery which are applicable to a wide range of situations, not just PAS. 2) Exposure to diagnostic ultrasound scanning for PAS. 3) Participation in the analysis of almost 5 years of PAS outcome data with a view to publication. 4) Helping with the development of educational materials for patients and clinicians focussing on both PAS and the generic surgical management of massive obstetric haemorrhage. The post would be ideally suited for someone who wishes to work in a PAS centre in the future or to lead on undertaking other complex obstetric surgical cases in the DGH setting. Please see attached document for full job description and personal specification. "}
