They will be expected to care for patients both in the clinic and operating theatre setting. There will be an expectation through the year that the successful candidate will progress towards independent practice but will be supported by the five consultants within the unit during this time. The successful candidate may be asked to undertake some middle grade general orthopaedic on call, but will not formally be on the rota. These on call commitments will only be undertaken after the rota co-ordinator has confirmed with the foot and ankle consultants that they will not unduly interfere with the fellowship.
