We provide rehabilitation to older people living in the local community with the aim of supporting them to return to their own homes as independent as possible. The unit consists of 25 beds. PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED, THIS IS LIKELY TO CLOSE EARLY. You will have a pivotal role in ensuring patients receive a high standard of Occupational Therapy care whilst they are on our ward. You will have the opportunity to develop understanding and application of the OT process, develop knowledge of different types of equipment and how to assess for these as well as completing assessments and treatment programmes for activities of daily living. It is essential you have access to your own vehicle as you will be required to complete access and home visits to help facilitate discharge. As some of our beds are for Dementia patients you will get the opportunity to develop your understanding of these conditions and the role OT may play with this client group including cognitive screening assessments and therapeutic interventions. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and have experience of working as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, preferably with older adults. You will have excellent communication skills, time management skills with the ability to prioritise and problem solve . About us Thorndon ward prides itself on a high standard of patient care.
