You can also read more information about working at the Northern Care Alliance within the attached Candidate Information Pack or by visiting our careers website: www.careers.northerncarealliance.nhs.uk We now have a vacancy for a full time Decontamination Technician / Driver to work with the Hospital's Sterilization and Disinfection Unit(HSDU) at the Royal Oldham Hospital, which is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The HSDU is responsible for the decontamination and sterilisation of invasive reusable medical devices. The HSDU is a purpose-built facility at the Royal Oldham Hospital and serves as the sterile services department for the organisation and beyond, ensuring that medical devices are made safe for use between each patient. The service is quality-driven, in line with the departments ISO 13485 Accreditation. The successful candidate will undertake decontamination science duties to assist in providing a specialised decontamination and resupply of medical devices service, contributing to the clinical care of the patient. Under supervision, you will support the day-to-day operation of decontamination services, to meet the demands of the department's workload. To undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the workforce of Decontamination Production Managers and Supervisors, in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient. To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Record all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database. Work in accordance with the Department's Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems. To plan your own workload with limited supervision. The role involves exposure to blood and body fluids. This role involves portering and driving duties on a cover basis; performing multi-drop deliveries and collections to hospital and other internal and external clinical settings. You MUST be licenced to drive a 3.5tn vehicle (Luton van) with manual gear box; with at least 3 years driving experience. "}
