We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and able to support the team to deliver a professional and responsive service to patients and professionals alike. A flexible approach to service demand is required As a Medical Secretary you will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultant Haematologist including: Organise and reschedule haematology clinics and special haematological investigations, for in-patients and out-patients. You will organise in-patient treatment for patients, discharge summaries and follow-up appointments when required. You will provide secretarial cover for colleagues as required during holiday periods and sick leave, liaise with other departments and clients and be a pro-active team player. About us The ideal candidates will have strong secretarial skills and have attained RSA Level 3 typing/word processing or equivalent qualification, or experience as a minimum. Experience using digital dictation and experience of medical terminology is essential. Some of the responsibilities include: To liaise with and act as a point of contact for clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and GP's via telephone and email. The post holder should be polite and empathetic to the patient's needs and be able to communicate effectively when dealing with difficult situations/conversations. Support the maintenance and updating of all patients' referral to treatment pathways, including outpatient clinic outcomes, results tracking, any waiting list arrangements, and associated appointments, as required by the service For more details about this role please refer to attached Job Description and Personal Specification.
