The post holder will be the lead nurse for Pediatrics Lupus and related disease based in RMCH and assist in the provision of advice and support for nurses and other health professionals in the safe management of children and young people with Lupus. The post holder will incorporate the specialist practitioner role dimensions of clinical expertise, leadership, education, management and research. The post holder will lead the development of service for this client group in partnership with consumers and professionals from all relevant agencies. Within health, this will involve working with lead medical and therapy staff based at Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, as well as colleagues from across the northwest network, and Lupus UK. The post holder will exercise higher levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. They will provide specialist expertise and advice with assessment, treatment and management in this client group. They will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will contribute to clinical effectiveness within the service by undertaking audit and research as part of the MDT within the specialist field.
