The Strategic Programme for Mental Health sits within the NHS Wales Executive. Our goal is to work with NHS Wales and its partner organisations to drive improvements in quality and safety for people with a mental health difficulty and their carers. By being the interface between Welsh Government policy and service delivery across Wales we aim to deliver better and more equitable outcomes, access and experience for people across Wales. The successful applicant will be a critical part of our Strategic Programme for Mental Health team. You will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of our communications strategy and a range of communications activities to support our all-Wales mental health networks and programmes. For example, this may include campaigns, social media activity, news stories, blogs and communications packs. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic communications professional who is keen to use their skills to play a key role in the delivery of innovative healthcare communications. Whilst you will be embedded within the Strategic Programme for Mental Health you will receive strong professional support and be part of a wider network of communication specialists working within the NHS Wales Executive. This is a blended role to include home and office working with various options across Wales. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. About us The role of the Communications Manager is to lead the communications portfolio within the Strategic Programme for Mental Health, working to achieve our overarching Communications Strategy. This could include leading on internal communications, programme communications, network communications, etc. This role is both strategic and hands-on, working closely with members of the Strategic Programme for Mental Health and in partnership with our wider communications colleagues in the NHS Wales Executive. Communications strategy and planning developing and executing these working closely with the Strategic Programme for Mental Health lead. These will be insight led, creative, collaborative and innovative. Audience understanding and insight designing, utilising and occasionally undertaking research to obtain the insight required to develop effective communications. This includes metrics to measure the impact of communications. Campaign development and implementation using insight and a range of appropriate communications channels. This includes product launches, budget management and procuring and managing external suppliers where appropriate. Stakeholder management (internal, external and agency) managing a range of relationships to support the delivery of effective communications. This could include programme/network teams, Leadership Team, NHS communications teams, agencies, freelancers etc. Content production and management producing written content, briefs for creative content production and managing the creation of creative content (such as videos, microsites, printed literature etc.) Communications reporting producing summary reports for Strategic Programme for Mental Health lead, programme/network teams and Leadership Team on communications performance and impact with recommendations on next steps. Communications consultative support providing advice, guidance and coaching where appropriate to non-communications professionals on communications good practice.
