Thanks to growth in MRI clinical services in Southampton, we're looking for a highly experienced and enthusiastic MR Scientist to join the Magnetic Resonance (MR) Physics Team in Southampton, to help lead the group and support an innovative clinical MR service. About us Youll join a team of 3.6 WTE Clinical Scientists supporting 8 MRI scanners (6 x 1.5T and 2 x 3T, including a cardiac MRI scanner) at UHS, as well as external clients. One 3T scanner at UHS provides capacity for dedicated research sessions, with local R&D interests in neuro, oncology, lung and liver MRI. We also deliver specialist services covering MR quality assurance (QA), safety and clinical service development. Other exciting new opportunities are arising due to continued investment in clinical work and research in Southampton, including interventional and intraoperative MRI. Responsibilities:You will be involved across the whole range of work provided by the group and will fully support MRI development opportunities that are emerging in MR Physics and Radiology, as well as deputising for the head of group as required. The role will include opportunities to lead on different work areas that the group is involved in, from clinical service development, which includes developing our role within our local imaging network, to research support and leadership. Other aspects of the role will involve assisting with the routine QA programme, providing MR Safety Expert advice (and working towards certification if not already achieved) and taking on teaching and training responsibilities, including STP training and multi-professional workforce development. We are keen to support the ongoing development of our staff, to drive forward our clinical and research areas of interest, and we encourage continuous professional development. We can offer the successful candidate flexible working hours, with the potential of a mixture of on-site and remote working. What experience/skills are needed:You should have a good honours degree in science or engineering, a higher degree, and significant experience of MR Physics applied in a clinical (hospital) environment. Experience in clinical MRI research and/or a relevant PhD would be advantageous but not essential. You should hold HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist. You should have some experience in leading aspects of a clinical MRI Physics service and a good knowledge of MR physics (including recent developments) relating to a range of clinical applications. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. An ability to travel to other sites would be preferred.
