To produce accurate, timely reports to inform the MDT and external agencies about a clients functional abilities for ongoing support and rehabilitation needs To be able to motivate and persuade staff and patients, and deal with barriers to acceptance, through effective communication skills this may include negotiation and influencing skills. To undertake comprehensive review of pre-morbid function in patients referred for Occupational Therapy and be able to analyse the information to determine what assessments and treatment are required for a designated caseload. To carry out specialist assessments and complex clinical interventions with allocated cases and in a consultative capacity with other occupational therapists and staff as necessary. The post holder will provide operational and clinical leadership to a clinical therapy teamincluding staff of different grades and disciplines. The post holder will work closely with the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Acute Team Leads to support team organisation and prioritisation processes. They will deputise for the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist alongside other team leads; provide advice in relation to occupational therapy matters; and facilitate the resolution of workload/staffing issues. The post holder will provide, highly specialist assessment and interventions for a caseload of patients on acute medical and surgical wards demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning skills and the ability to undertake assessment of complex patients including cognitive assessment, functional and environmental assessment, and to play an active role in discharge planning, identifying the needs of patients and making appropriate recommendations for their onward care or rehabilitation. The post holder will provide operational and clinical leadership to a clinical therapy team including staff of different grades and disciplines.
