Southern Health's CAMHS Occupational Therapy team is seeking a resilient, enthusiastic and compassionate person to join its service at Austen House. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work as a valued member of the Occupational Therapy and Multi-Disciplinary teams, supporting the Occupational Therapy practitioners in the implementation of assessments, as well as group and individual interventions. The VdT Model of Creative Ability, and Sensory Integration Theory, underpin the Occupational Therapy team's practice. The successful candidate must have excellent engagement and communication skills, a sense of fun, and a professional and innovative approach to practice. They will need to demonstrate that they can work independently as well as under direction, understand the concept of using activity to engage young people in therapy, as well as having skills and experience in project/event leadership or facilitation. Austen House is a low secure adolescent service, providing residential care for up to 8 young people aged between 12 and 18. Set within Tatchbury Mount, Austen House is a purpose built hospital which provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment programme for young people experiencing severe mental health and/or emotional difficulties, who additionally pose a significant risk of harm to themselves. Under the supervision of an occupational therapist the post holder will be expected to: *Use a specialised occupational therapy informed approach to develop and facilitate a flexible, person centred programme of therapeutic activities, for individuals and groups of service users with learning disabilities / mental health difficulties / complex needs in a variety of settings. *Support occupational therapists to undertake assessments and interventions. *Support service users to access activities/resources.
