(Mainly assisting in Dermatology theatre with dermatology surgical procedures). To assist with the most effective use of resources and manpower. To participate in the planning and developing of the future service in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures. To actively take part in meeting the needs of the patients under the supervision of a qualified nurse, working within the Trust's policies and procedures and the philosophy of the department. To be an effective member of a multidisciplinary team under the direction and supervision of a qualified nurse and to be continually aware of the need for confidentiality. Where appropriate, to continue to develop own capabilities in nursing tasks in order to deliver a high standard of care. To assist patients with their anxieties pre-operatively. To assist patients with their comfort and well being during surgery. Monitor and record patient’s vital signs (including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation) and report any abnormal results immediately to registered nurse staff. Demonstrate an understanding of infection control issues by attending mandatory training, understand infection control procedures, accept responsibility for own infection control practice and be willing to challenge others’ practice. Ensure that all patient public areas, where applicable and utility room is clean and tidy at all times and to inform the appropriate member of staff when the required standard is not maintained. To clean equipment on a daily basis, including examination/theatre couch, dressing trolleys, linen trolley, bucket/bowl transport trolley, notes trolley, , weighing scales and inform the nurse in charge when any of these equipment are faulty.
