If so, we have an exciting opportunity to work as a Residential Childcare Worker in our Ealing Broadway home that specialises in children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social needs. We provide 24/7 residential services to the UK's most vulnerable children and young people and believe a child's future should never be defined by their past. The children and young people we care for have experienced trauma that can lead them to display challenging behaviours in an effort to communicate with those around them. They require care from a reliable, committed, passionate and skilled staff team. This will support them to develop trusting relationships which provide the time and space to explore their past experiences, behaviours and current situation. Our aim is to create a secure, safe and nurturing environment for children and young people to be able to explore and understand their identities, whilst promoting and developing confidence and self-esteem. We are aspirational for our children and young people and actively support them to attend and access education and employment opportunitiesandto develop their independence skills. We also support them to continue with and develop relationships with family and peers where appropriate. Staff are enabled to provide a high level of care and support to children and young people through regular and ongoing training opportunities. Staff are ambitious for the children and young people we care for and are passionate and committed to ensure they experience good quality care that is individual to them and positively prepares them for adulthood. As a Support Worker, You Will Be able to engage and develop positive relationshipswithchildren and young people. Be able to supportchildren and young people with activities in the home. This includes engaging them in hobbies and interests, accompanying them out in the community and on day trips. Keep well-informed of legislation, guidelines, policies to ensure the Children's Act, Children's homes regulations and the national minimum standards are met at all times. To be aware of all Ofsted guidance and information in regard to the home. Supportchildren and young people to achievetheireveryday goalswithpatience and positivity. Be resilient and help manage behaviours that challenge, supporting them to reflect and learn when these present. Empower children and young people and facilitatetheiractiveinvolvement in thedecisionmaking abouttheirlife and their future. Advocate for them and ensuretheirvoices are heard. Responsible for a high level of record keeping. Great emphasis and importance is attached to the recording of events and observations which will include their daily and monthly progress, updating files, notification to appropriate people and health and safety checks. To observe and assess young people's progress and keep accurate records of their achievements, behaviour and important events in their lives. To produce and keep up to date a life book for any young person for whom you have key working responsibilities. To work with local authorities/ placing authorities to ensure the care the young people receive is outstanding To establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents/carers in a way that supports young people's learning and development and values parental involvement where appropriate. To be flexible within working practices of the home e.g. To help, where needed, including undertaking domestic tasks within the home, which will include preparation of meals, cleaning, shopping etc Encourage and support them with all of their daily living needs in line with their individual care plan. You will work closely with your Line Manager, your team, health advisors, G.P's, Social Workers, therapists, teachers and other professionals. Requirements For This Position Are Level3/4Children&YoungPeopleWorkforce SocialCareorResidentialChildCarequalification (or willing to undertake this training within 2 years). Understandingof the needs and presenting behaviours of children and youngpeoplewho have experienced trauma. Able to work on a rota pattern to include evenings and weekends, with at least one sleep in shift per week. Experience of workingwithchildren and youngpeoplein aresidentialcaresetting is desirable but not essential. Transferable skills will be considered on application. Ability to travel out of UK for overseas summer holidays.
