Main duties of the job We have an exciting opportunity for a experienced nurse to join our well established direct to test team. You will be running nurse led diagnostic clinics reviewing patients and booking appropriate tests to rule in or out colorectal cancers. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is able to work in collaboration with the wider MDT. This is a great opportunity for someone to develop assessment skills and be part of a supportive team. To develop own nurse led telephone clinics in conjunction with the consultants and the outpatient department, after consultation with the Colorectal Cancer Lead Nurse and key stakeholders. To support the Trusts' in achieving compliance with Direct-to-Test, Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) and Referral to Treatment waiting time targets including 28 day Faster Diagnosis Service. To support the Lower GI surgical care pathway in line with the Nurse Specialists Team. To actively involved in Peer Review and to ensure mandatory measures for Peer Review are met with evidence e.g. from audits or research. To be able to request and interpret investigatory results and determine next pathway stage; including discharge back to GP or referral to specialist services as required. Holding additional specialist knowledge and experience to demonstrate a higher level of expertise in the delivery of diagnostic pathway, including LGI suspected cancer.
