An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly haemato-oncology ward at St Georges Hospital, on a full-time permanent basis. This ward cares for patients with a variety of haematological disorders. The department works with a team of specialist consultants and nurses who collectively provide a comprehensive service covering diagnosis, treatment, palliative care, and end of life care. Ruth Myles Ward is a 12 bedded unit that treat haematological disorders undergoing chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation and soon CAR T therapy. We also have CNS's associated with blood cancers, solid tumours and bleeding disorders as well having a research team conducting trials. We offer a rotation to all three wards; in those 6 months the aim is to do 1-2 study days related to that specific ward care needs. These study days will range from the systemic anti-cancer treatment to the acute oncology course and stem cell transplant. The aim of the rotation is to allow staff to learn about all different aspects of haematology oncology nursing and essentially be more prepared to take on more responsibility in more senior roles.
