This role is clinically facing although you would also be expected to primarily undertake coordination of the area and be a role model demonstrating leadership and delegation. As part of the role you will be expected to work clinically on the ward, ensuring quality patient care is delivered. You will also be expected to help the senior management team on the unit. You should be committed to the development and education of nursing staff. Effective management, communication and leadership skills are essential for this role and the individual must be adaptable to service needs and be able to demonstrate initiative and possess a proactive approach to improving standards of practice, education and skills within the ward. The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of the unit in an effective and efficient manner. You will be a clinical role model and have a willingness to contribute to the development of the team as well as your own professional growth. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. You must have a minimum of two years post registration and a surgical background is desirable. Coordination of the ward, ensuring standard work on the ward is carried out.
