Responsible for general preparation and organisation of the surgery and the correct function of clinical equipment. Maintain high standards Infection Prevention Control. Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste. Constantly interpret the needs of patients, carers and clinicians and be able to deal with them promptly and efficiently. Work within the framework of National Guidance, Trust Policies and Service Local Operating Procedures. Assist the clinician with the completion of patient records, including the use of a computerised system. May be required to assist when carrying out audits, screenings or epidemiological surveys including any related duties to support this The Dental Out of Hours (OOH) service provides urgent dental care to the population of Buckinghamshire. It is hosted by CNWL Community Dental Service, part of CNWL NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work weekday evening sessions (3.5 hours), weekend sessions (8 hours) and/or Bank Holiday sessions (8 hours) which will be allocated on a rota basis to ensure that they are available to all direct reports. They will need to carry out dental nursing duties to include assisting the dental clinician in treating patients. Maintain high standards in Infection Prevention Control Assist the patient on their treatment journey Provide triage The post-holder will be an established leader with significant line management experience. They will be responsible for the line management of the OOH nurses including the direct responsibility for the human resources tasks such as undertaking appraisal and agreeing personal development plans, invoking HR policies and support/supervision. Assist the Dental Operational Manager and Dental Nurse Manager in managing the clinic resources and coordinating the operation of the OOH service according to: Manage dental nursing staff including performing regular appraisals, development and monitoring of personal development plans Responsible for recruitment, selection and retention of dental nurses Take appropriate action in the handling of the Trust HR policies such as monitoring sickness absence, disciplinary, grievances and performance monitoring Retrieve and produce monthly reports for the senior management team on finance, activity and performance Effectively communicate in the management of complex financial and general enquiries from staff and patients Act as core configurer for computerised appointment and patient record system Responsibility for filing and recording systems, ensuring relevance, maintenance and updating Ensure that EDI claims are processed monthly to ensure activity accurately is recorded Carry out clerical duties associated with the running of the clinic, i.e. appointment making, monitoring referrals from 111, answering telephone calls and general enquiries, collection of mail, taking and accounting of monies received as necessary. Undertake specific duties delegated by the Clinicians, Senior management team and Dental Nurse Manager. May include stores/stock control duties at specified clinic as required.
