We looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic qualified nurse with strong interpersonal skills to join our team. You will work with the ward manager ensuring the team delivers high standards of patient care. You will also work with the practice development sister in the training and development of staff and be involved in raising the profile of the speciality. Evidence of caring for the cardiac patient together with appropriate knowledge and skills acquired in an acute cardiac environment, evidence of recent professional development and use of evidence based practice, are all essential for the post. A Mentorship Preparation Certificate (e.g. ENB998 or equivalent) and applied experience of teaching, supervising, mentoring and assessing student nurses are also essential. Main duties of the job To be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe and high quality patient care. To manage patients flow throw cardiology. To provide support to the Unit Manager and deputise when required. To develop and manage a team of nurses. To participate in unit development by implementing innovations. To participate in clinical audits to ensure high standard service is delivered. We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital's NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: To be responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care while adhering to trust policies and guidelines. To ensure nursing practice is research based and be aware of current developments guaranteeing regular updating of current policies and guidelines. Maintain close links with the unit manager ensuring an understanding of budgets, contracts and marketing of services. Ensure staff are aware of budgetary issues pertinent to their role. Manage shift rotas in accordance with ward policy while making sure staffing levels and skill mix is adequate. Deputise for the unit manager and perform other duties, as requested by the unit manager, commensurate with grade as well as representing the ward at meetings and committees as required. Work closely with the unit manager regarding core services, ward issues and opimising resources. Participate in clinical audits to ensure high standard service is delivered. To ensure good working relationships are maintained within the team and ward. Ensure an environment conducive to learning is provided for both trained and untrained staff Identify staff training/development needs through the staff appraisal system. Support staff in their orientation, preceptorship and rotation programmes as appropriate. Participate in recruitment and selection process.
