Are you passionate about being involved in the support and growth of young people? Youth Advice Centre (YAC) Brighton is looking for a Housing Advice Worker to join their creative and dynamic team. Youth Advice Centre (YAC) Brighton offers advice, support and guidance to young people in Brighton and Hove. The service aims to provide young people in the local area with a safe and friendly environment where they can access helpful advice and support. In delivering the role, you will provide support to young people aged 16-25 years old to maintain their housing and where appropriate help them find more secure accommodation. You will advise and support young people in housing need, providing information and guidance on homelessness legislation and housing related issues. You will have a caseload of young people with multiple needs, providing a series of intensive, structured interventions, either as lead professional or as part of an agreed joint agency package. You will also be working closely with Brighton & Hove City Council and various other external stakeholders. In addition, you will also provide information, advice, guidance, and support to young people around a wide variety of issues. Along with providing services which will be accessible and responsive to varying needs and adapt support in a holistic personalised way, including providing a trauma informed care environment for your team and young people. You will be based onsite at the Youth Advice Centre in central Brighton. You are able to relate to young people with varying needs, along with knowledge of issues facing young people, especially those who are socially excluded or from hard to reach groups, along with an awareness and understanding of safeguarding. In addition, you will have some knowledge of housing legislation, housing options and of benefits and welfare legislation.
