To assist qualified Occupational Therapists in the delivery of Occupational therapy assessments and interventions with patients on an individual or group basis and in a variety of settings (Wards, Day Hospital and Community). To work under direction of qualified staff across identified service areas. To carry out planned interventions of care as directed and provided by Therapists, assisting in the planning, setting up and running of groups and individual treatment sessions. The post holder will provide administrative and housekeeping support to the team and be able to organise and prioritise their own allocated daily workload to meet service demands and patients needs. They will also actively participate in any service training/developments as deemed appropriate to the role and ensure they keep up to date with mandatory training. We are recruiting individuals to work as Occupational Therapy Assistants on our staff Bank. This role would be well-suited to current Occupational Therapy students who are able to work on an ad hoc basis. Shifts are available at our main sites - Bishop Auckland, Darlington Memorial and University Hospital North Durham. Speciality areas include Frailty, Stroke, Medical, Surgical & Orthopeadics. With further potential for shifts at Sedgefield Community Hospital working with Wheelchair Services. We provide a 7 day service between the hours of 08:00-16:00, with the Acute Frailty Therapists providing 08:00-20:00 cover. All individuals would be fully inducted and additional departmental training will be provided. Duties would include working alongside qualified Therapists; gathering relevant patient history, carrying out therapeutic interventions such as activities of daily living and transfer practice. Individuals will also deliver and fit suitable pieces of equipment, providing verbal instruction and demonstrating the safe use of specialist equipment in a range of environments. There is also the expectation to liaise with patients, their carers and family members, carrying out follow up telephone calls and ensuring patient documentation is accurate and up to date. Therapy assistants will also support the day to day running of the service completing administrative tasks, ordering and organising equipment. "}
