The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting a patient's journey by effectively managing their cancer pathway. The post holder will communicate complex, sensitive, contentious information with a range of stakeholders, where persuasion or negotiation is required. To provide an efficient administrative support service for cancer teams within ULHT to assist with the smooth and efficient running of the cancer pathways, liaising with patients and staff of all levels, including medical staff. To manage the daily administration of patient cancer pathways, which includes: Processing referrals received into the Trust on an urgent suspected cancer pathway Timely review of patient results, actioning results according to procedure Ensuring that the correct communication is given to the patient and clinical staff on time Ensure that all patient records are entered and maintained accurately Ensure that reports and management information is available as required. The post holder will require strong analytical and judgemental skills to exercise judgement when dealing with enquiries. Analyse information to resolve problems for patients, carers and staff and demonstrate ability to triage/escalate where appropriate. To prioritise your daily workload to ensure deadlines are met. To work independently and on own initiative To attend meetings as required within your cancer team where necessary To ensure all patient records are accurately maintained thus preventing the loss or misplacement of patient information Deal with telephone/routine enquires and taking messages where appropriate. Contacting and booking of appointments to support the Cancer Pathway. To assist in the data collection and production of data for the purpose of annual reporting To ensure patient confidentiality at all times Perform any extra duties when providing cover in the absence of colleagues, including cover for medical secretaries and elective access clerks.
