There is currently a 1:18 acute medical on-call rota for day or night takes. There is also a second on call 1:9 for medicine covering medical admissions unit and Elderly care zone on the weekends as part of 7 day working. The Trust is keen to develop an outstanding geriatric service and is looking for a highly motivated and innovative physician to supplement the present team. The vision for this new post is to creatively expand our Medicine for Older People service and design posts with and around an individual who may wish to develop services in orthogeriatric, stroke, community geriatrics, Parkinson's, acute frailty, rehabilitation, or other aspects of geriatric medicine. There is scope for part-time and flexible working and the department may wish to carry out team Job Planning and/or annualisation, depending on the team membership. We expect daily consultant presence on the acute wards with daily MDT board rounds and review of new admissions and unwell patients and twice weekly ward rounds. We support a 7-day acute frailty service and frailty virtual ward as well as weekly ward rounds of our community inpatients. Teaching and development of medical students and trainees is an integral part of the role as well as participation in research and audit activities in the department. Duties may also include teaching, lectures or workshops for other departments, nurses, GPs and others. "}
