NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Mixed Surgical Specialties nursing team here in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will be working as a Band 5 staff nurse providing essential nursing care to our patients with various conditions including Vascular, Urology, Orthopaedic and General Surgery in our 28 bedded ward. You will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for this patient group. Including pre and post-operative care, rehabilitation and complex discharge planning. A fundamental part of the role is to communicate with the Multidisciplinary team in enhancing the patient journey. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and should be able to work on your own merit supported by the wider nursing team. You should hold current registration with the NMC and be educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience In Vascular/Surgical Nursing Is Preferred But Not Essential. You will be working a fully rotational shift pattern of 12 hour days and nights over 7 days, including Bank Holidays. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG scheme.
