The surgeon will help to further expand our elective surgical services at Burnley General Hospital whilst also contributing to managing complex patients at Royal Blackburn Hospital. The successful candidate will join a team of 6 consultants, mainly based at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital but with some sessions at the outpatient department at St Peter's Health Centre in Burnley and elective theatre suite at Burnley General Teaching Hospital. On call duties will be at Royal Blackburn Hospital. We have a strong emphasis on training and have a strong commitment to support, mentorship and development of all of our staff and have regular multidisciplinary meetings. The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team approach alongside medical staff, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Clinical research, quality improvement and service development are actively encouraged. The post holder will hold regular independent outpatient clinics and will be responsible for formalising patient care pathways and responsibility for pre, post and perioperative care of patients undergoing surgery as well as provision of care for the in-patients.
