You will be part of a supportive and experienced team who provide care during labour, birth, and the immediate postnatal period. You will assist with care of women under the direction and supervision of Midwifery trained staff in the birth centre setting. The Maternity Support Worker will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care of the mothers and their babies in support of and under the general supervision of the midwife. Interview date: 27-Aug Due to government threshold guidelines the trust is unable to provide sponsorship for this role ** We are a busy maternity unit looking for positive, enthusiastic and motivated people to join our maternity services team. Under the direction of the Registered Midwife you will work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, to provide the highest standards of patient care within maternity services. The Midwifery Support Worker may be required to assist in any clinical area within the Maternity Department in response to Service demand. The successful post holder will care for mothers and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period within the hospital setting. In addition you will be required to maintain accurate, legible and contemporaneous records and communicate with all in a courteous and helpful way. Duties will include checking physical wellbeing with blood pressure and urinalysis measurements, infant feeding support, accurate recording and reporting of information and administrative support. Previous experience of working in the NHS or equivalent care background is required. This post is rotational throughout the Maternity Services, and will involve shift working covering the service 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Shifts comprise of Long days 08.00-20.30 hours and nights 20.00-08.30 hours in most areas, with some variations of this in others. You will be expected to work flexibly in accordance with shift patterns and rotation throughout the maternity service, covering both days and nights.
