The aim is to balance the access demands of the wards and those of urgent/non-urgent need for available beds. This will include outsourcing beds for the Trust if demand exceeds capacity including specialist beds e.g. PICU, Tier 4, Eating Disorder beds and other specialist beds as required. The aim of the Bed Managers role is to support clinical teams to optimise the continuum of care by assisting the management of the patient effectively throughout the whole of their care episode, from admission into the hospital and back into the community. Essentially the post holder will liaise with Home Treatment, inpatient, community and medical staff to co-ordinate and optimise the Trust's inpatient bed utilisation.
