Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: To both develop and deliver high quality clinical care, skills and knowledge within a challenging and rewarding multi-speciality ward environment. To be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development of plan of care, implementation and evaluation always maintaining high standards. To be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care and contribute to Clinical Audit/Research. To ensure good working relationships are maintained within your team/ward To communicate on a regular basis with all staff groups regarding relevant patient care ensuring best IG practice is maintained. To be aware of the complaints procedure and able to apply it as needed. To ensure your practice is current and research/evidence based. To liaise with the team leader and senior nurses on untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues. To actively participate in health promotion eg. Utilisation of smoking cessation service for patients. To adhere and promote infection control standards, acting as a role model and patient advocate at all times. Act as a resource/assessor to junior staff , actively participating in the development and implementation of teaching programmes. Provide and maintain legible and comprehensible records, to agreed Trust and NMC Standards. To act in accordance with Trust policies and Nursing Procedures To adhere to the Trust Uniform Policy at all times. To be aware of the aims of the core business plan pertinent to own area of work. Maintain your own personal portfolio/profile for your revalidation. Human Resources To promote good professional working relationships within MDT both Internally and externally. To assist in teaching programmes for student nurses/ new staff/junior staff and contribute towards a conducive learning environment. Attend ward meetings and help generate new ideas/methods. To take personal responsibility for ensuring you receive annual updates on all mandatory training. To participate in a preceptorship or associate mentorship programme and continued clinical supervision. Leadership Both develop and subsequently demonstrate initial clinical leadership skills within a small team environment, supporting and delegating to more inexperienced nursing and HCA team members. Administrative To assist and carry out as necessary all administrative and nursing duties as delegated by Matron/Ward Manager/Sister. To act in accordance with policies/procedures as per trust and private patient services. To assist the team leader in the auditing of patient care and service delivery to ensure high standards of nursing care are maintained. To work collaboratively with the senior team regarding hospital and ward issues. To ensure confidentiality of patients records and ensure high standards of nursing documentation. To assist the ward manager/sisters in updating staff in policies/guidelines and changes in practice. To use all resources efficiently and effectively maintaining an awareness of budgetary implications.
